**Two Workers Rescued Alive Nine Days After Nepal Tunnel Flooding**

**BISSAU** – Two workers were rescued alive on Friday, September 4, after being trapped for nine days inside a tunnel at the Trishuli-3 hydroelectric project in northern Nepal. The rescue follows a devastating flood that struck the mountainous region along the Nepal-China border on August 26.

Authorities have described the survival of the two men, identified as Sanjay Shah and Kabir Maharjan, as a “miracle.” They are the first survivors to be recovered from the site since the disaster occurred.

Footage released by Nepal’s Ministry of Energy shows one worker being transported on a stretcher while conscious, while the second worker, covered in mud, was able to stand with the assistance of rescue personnel. Both men were airlifted to Kathmandu to receive medical treatment.

The rescue has provided a boost to search-and-rescue teams who have been working at the site since the flooding began nine days ago.
