Nearly half of Eastern Caribbean children exposed to multiple climate hazards

**Nearly Half of Children in Eastern Caribbean Face Multiple Climate Hazards, UNICEF Report Finds**

A new UNICEF analysis indicates that almost 50 % of children in the Eastern Caribbean are exposed to more than one climate‑related hazard. The study, which covers six countries in the region—including Grenada—examines current climate trends, child‑centered vulnerabilities, socioeconomic impacts, and the projected regional cost of inaction.

The report highlights that rising temperatures, increased frequency of extreme weather events, and sea‑level rise are creating overlapping risks for young people. It also outlines how these hazards can exacerbate existing inequalities and strain local economies.

UNICEF stresses that urgent action is required to protect children and to mitigate the long‑term costs associated with climate change in the region. The full analysis is available on UNICEF’s Eastern Caribbean website.
