John Phelan, Secretary of the Navy, was listed as a passenger on Jeffrey Epstein’s private plane in 2006, according to a flight manifest found among recently released documents. The flight, which carried 12 other passengers including Epstein and Jean-Luc Brunel, flew from London to New York. Brunel, a French modeling agent and Epstein’s associate, was facing sexual assault and rape charges when he was found dead in a prison cell in 2022. Phelan, who was in the financial sector at the time, was invited on the flight by Bear Stearns CEO Jimmy Cayne. A close friend of Phelan’s confirmed that this was the only time Phelan interacted with Epstein. Phelan, a businessman with no prior military service, was confirmed as secretary of the Navy in March 2025. He and his wife are prominent art collectors and fundraised millions for President Donald Trump’s campaign.
