Nationwide Deployment of 25 Mobile Police Units Approved

The cabinet has sanctioned the implementation of 25 mobile security units aimed at enhancing police visibility, improving rapid response, and fortifying border and community safety. These units will serve as fully equipped operational bases, housing officers and facilitating joint police-defence operations. The units, varying in size, are designed with sleeping quarters, monitoring space, and shared-use facilities, effectively functioning as mobile police stations. They will be stationed in high-risk areas identified by police data, enabling rapid response to incidents such as shootings, robberies, and murders. Besides, they intend to serve as a deterrent to trafficking, gang activity, and organized crime. Some units will assist with coastal and border monitoring, and all will be staffed continuously for surveillance. Government plans to engage local suppliers for construction, promoting local employment. The pressing need for these units arises from escalating community violence and gang activity, and the necessity for stronger monitoring of demographics linked to terrorism. The units’ mobility provides flexibility to adapt to evolving crime patterns.
