Rowan Collin Wilson, a 44-year-old cyclist from Diego Martin, tragically died on Friday night during the 2026 Easter International Cycling Grand Prix. The unfortunate incident occurred when Wilson, in a bid to avoid a collision with another cyclist, landed on the fencing that lined the tracks. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries.
Known by his friends as ‘Creepy’ Wilson due to his unique racing style, Wilson was a well-recognized figure in the cycling community. His exceptional performances over the years earned him the Elite Men National Criterium title in 2015 and the President’s Cup twice for overall points dominance. He was also one of the few riders to have won across multiple disciplines in Trinidad cycling.
The Honourable Phillip Watts, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, expressed his deepest condolences to the family, friends, and the entire cycling fraternity. In a touching tribute, he referred to Wilson as a champion cyclist and a pioneer who inspired generations of young athletes in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs stands in solidarity with the cycling community during this time of profound grief, extending heartfelt support to all those affected by this tragic loss. The nation joins in honouring the life, legacy, and invaluable contribution of Colin “Creepy” Wilson to cycling in Trinidad and Tobago.
