On Tuesday, a funeral service was held for veteran public servant and political figure Dr. Ferdinand “Ferdie” Ferreira, attended by family, friends, party colleagues and well-wishers. The service took place at the Port of Spain Church of the Assumption, and attendees showed their respect by standing quietly at the casket, many wearing red ribbons as a symbol of remembrance. Dr. Ferreira was remembered as a dedicated professional, a committed party stalwart, and a man who remained grounded in service to ordinary citizens. He was praised for his contributions to public life, his advocacy for the working class, and his loyalty to the People’s National Movement. The large turnout highlighted his broad influence across generations and sectors of society. As the nation reflects on his legacy, Dr. Ferreira is being remembered not only for his public achievements, but also for his humility, discipline, and commitment to service.
