NAPA Chairman Hails Major Transformation And Teases Upcoming Caribbean Awards

NAPA Chairman Kenny Phillips says the National Academy for the Performing Arts is undergoing a major transformation as its leadership works to unlock the facility’s full potential. Phillips made the comments while hosting Stephen Byrd and Marisa Benin of Play for the Arts on a tour of NAPA and the facilities it has to offer. According to Phillips, the facility had not attained its full potential during its 17 years of existence. He said significant changes have taken place since the installation of a new board in September. Phillips pointed to the scale of the facility, including its numerous dressing rooms and the entities operating there, as he encouraged members of the public to come and see what NAPA has to offer. He described the transformation during his time at the facility as “phenomenal” and “mind-blowing”, while inviting the public to follow NAPA’s journey over the coming months. Phillips also teased major upcoming activity, telling the public to look out for the Caribbean Music Awards as well as other events expected at NAPA. He credited his line minister, Michelle Benjamin, for giving the team the opportunity to move forward with its plans. Phillips recalled Benjamin telling the team to “run” and do what was necessary, adding that they were doing just that. Phillips ended his message by positioning NAPA for its next chapter, declaring that the facility is “a stage for every story.”
