Nailah Blackman says preparations for the Caribbean Music Awards became nerve-wracking after her dress was held in customs because it was made with real feathers.
The Trinidad and Tobago soca artiste said authorities quarantined the outfit over the feathers, creating a last-minute scramble to have it released in time for the awards.
According to Blackman, the situation continued into the early hours of the morning, with the Minister of Agriculture being contacted at around 1 a.m. as efforts were made to secure the dress.
“We literally called the Minister of Agriculture at 1 a.m. in the morning fighting to get my dress,” Blackman said.
She said the dress was eventually released at approximately 9 a.m. that morning.
Blackman described the ordeal as “so crazy,” adding that it was only one of several problems she encountered while preparing for the Caribbean Music Awards.
