Madhya Pradesh Police on Tuesday launched the ‘Nasha Se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0’ awareness campaign, a 15-day drive against drug abuse running from July 15 to 30. The campaign, inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, involves NCC, NSS, sports and trade committees, and citizen groups to spread awareness about the dangers of drugs. The first edition of the campaign entered the World Book of Records and was praised in the UK Parliament for its effectiveness. Special Director General of Police Pankaj Kumar Srivastava said the campaign aims to reach every corner of the state, especially schools and colleges, to sensitize youth. He noted that over 33 crore people worldwide suffer from drug addiction, with 25 crore addicted to cannabis and 6 crore to opium-based substances.
