Mia Mottley has been inaugurated as the Prime Minister of Barbados this afternoon, an event presided over by His Excellency Lt. Col. The Most Honourable Jeffrey Bostic, the President of Barbados. Post the ceremony, Mottley addressed the nation stating that she embraces the responsibility ‘with humility and with resolve,’ indicating her commitment to honor the trust vested in her by the people of Barbados through diligent service and tireless effort. She expressed gratitude towards God, the Barbados Labour Party, her supporters, family, and parents for their unwavering support throughout her journey. Mottley also acknowledged the people of Barbados for reposing their faith in her leadership. In her speech, she also congratulated Wilfred Abrahams on assuming the role of Attorney General. She concluded by urging the nation to unite as the work continues and progress as one nation.
