Moruga Man Assaults Officer

A 23-year-old man, Anthony Mudie, known as “Lizzard,” was arrested in Moruga after allegedly assaulting a police officer during an anti-crime operation. The incident occurred on the night of July 11, 2025, when police officers, including Sgt Singh and PC Patrice, conducted a stop-and-search exercise in St. Mary’s Village.

As officers approached Mudie near St. Mary’s Plumbing and Electrical Supplies, he resisted arrest, leading to a struggle inside the store. During the altercation, Mudie struck PC Patrice in the head, injuring the officer, who subsequently fell to the ground. Mudie then fled the scene, prompting a police chase.

Officers were able to apprehend him a short distance away. Both Mudie and PC Patrice were taken to the Princes Town Health Facility for treatment of minor injuries. Mudie is also reported to be wanted on an outstanding warrant and is a person of interest in ongoing housebreaking and larceny investigations. The case is under further investigation by Ag Cpl Jugoon.
