Monaco and Germany Celebrate 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties at Berlin Reception

Monaco cemented its longstanding partnership with Germany at a diplomatic reception in Berlin on 10th July, celebrating 75 years of bilateral relations and the 21st anniversary of Prince Albert II’s accession to the throne. Hosted by Monaco’s Ambassador to Germany, Lorenzo Ravano, the event at the Waldorf Astoria Berlin drew nearly 300 guests, including senior government officials, diplomats, and representatives from business, finance, and culture.

Among the attendees were Monaco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, and Christoph Israng, Director General for Europe at Germany’s Federal Foreign Office. Over 70 ambassadors were present, alongside Monaco’s honorary consuls from Munich, Hamburg, Potsdam, and Düsseldorf.

Berro-Amadeï highlighted the strength and diversity of the relationship, citing the recent inauguration of Monaco-themed attractions at Europa-Park, Germany’s largest theme park, by the Princely Family. She underscored shared values such as commitment to multilateralism and international cooperation. Israng praised collaboration in scientific research and ocean conservation, pointing to German offshore sailor Boris Herrmann and Team Malizia as successful partners in sport and environmental initiatives.

Guests listened to the national anthems of Monaco and Germany, performed by the Berlin Diplomatic Choir, before viewing a photographic presentation tracing 75 years of diplomatic relations. The reception reflected decades of cooperation in diplomacy, science, culture, and environmental action, marking a milestone in Monaco’s relationship with Germany.
