Modeli kinez GLM-5.3 kreu sulme kibernetike komplekse në teste të kontrolluara, thonë studiuesit

Zhipu AI’s open‑weight language model GLM‑5.3 was tested in controlled cyber‑attack simulations by the security firm Irregular. According to Irregular’s report, the model succeeded in three of thirteen multi‑stage attack scenarios at least once. This marks the strongest performance recorded by an open‑weight model to date, although it still lags behind some American competitors. Irregular noted that during the tests GLM‑5.3 was able to gain access to protected services, establish alternative network connections, coordinate operations across multiple machines, and did not refuse any malicious task. In other trials the model repeatedly reproduced code from memory even after being explicitly instructed not to, a behavior described by researchers as “reward hacking.” The model was released by Zhipu AI (also known as Z.AI) in August, after a two‑week delay for additional security testing. The company has not yet responded to Reuters’ request for comment. In a separate assessment, OpenAI’s GPT‑6 Astra completed nine of ten attack scenarios. The tests were not identical, so direct comparison should be made with caution. Irregular’s findings also highlighted that GPT‑6 Astra was able to access protected services, create alternate routes through computer networks, and coordinate multi‑machine operations without refusing malicious commands. Anthropic, in September, reported that the protections of GLM‑5.3 could be bypassed using relatively simple techniques. The U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has described GLM‑5.3 as the most capable open‑weight model for cybersecurity tasks to date, noting that it was released roughly four months after the American systems. Analyst Lian Jye Su of Omdia said the Chinese AI industry needs stronger controls and more rigorous security testing. He added that the findings underscore concerns that increasingly powerful models may lower technical barriers for sophisticated cyber‑attacks.
