Rio Claro residents breathed a sigh of relief on Friday morning when missing local Samson Mahadeo was found after a multi‑day search. Mahadeo, who was reported missing on August 30, had sparked a coordinated effort by volunteers and authorities to locate him.
The man told rescuers that he had been abducted in the New Grant area on the morning of September 1 and held without food until his release on Friday. His account raised alarm among neighbors, prompting an early‑morning search that began at 6 a.m. on September 5.
The Hunters Search and Rescue Team, under the leadership of Captain Vallence Rambharat, combed the Rio Claro district and finally spotted Mahadeo at approximately 8 a.m. Team members Vishnu Ramdial, Vinod, and Celine Ramnath rushed to his side, offering food and basic care before escorting him to the police station.
At the Rio Claro Police Station, Mahadeo provided a brief statement reiterating his alleged abduction and the conditions he endured. Police officials said they would investigate the claims while thanking the volunteer rescuers for their swift action.
