Ministerio de Justicia y Seguridad Pública entrega 364 unidades de transporte nuevas a la Policía Nacional Civil

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has delivered 364 new transport units to the National Civil Police (PNC) of El Salvador. The acquisition is part of a modernization initiative aimed at enhancing public security and crime-fighting capabilities through the integration of electric vehicles.

The new fleet includes a variety of electric SUVs, pickup trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, and utility vans. According to the ministry, the deployment includes 15 electric automobiles and SUVs: 10 BYD Yuan Pro compact SUVs for urban patrol and five Toyota bZ4X SUVs for security and escort duties. The utility and cargo segment consists of 13 vehicles, including 11 JAC electric pickup trucks for territorial deployment and two JAC vans for logistics and support in the Historic Center.

The delivery also features 205 electric motorcycles. This includes 110 Vmoto Stash high-end sport motorcycles for use in La Libertad and the Greater San Salvador area, 65 Super Soco utility models for dense urban environments, and 30 lightweight Ryvid motorcycles for specific police stations. Additionally, the PNC received 131 electric bicycles, comprising 100 Giant brand units for patrol in the Historic Center of San Salvador and 31 Scott mountain bikes for coastal and mountain tourist zones.

Authorities stated that the four-wheeled vehicles have an approximate range of 280 kilometers per charge, while the motorcycles offer a range of over 100 kilometers. The fleet will be supported by 50 rapid chargers installed across the country and a network of solar panels capable of generating 2.2 megawatts of power.

Minister of Justice and Public Security Gustavo Villatoro stated during the handover that the initiative represents a transformation in electromobility for the country and the region. The 364 units are being distributed to various police stations to improve emergency response times and patrol operations.
