Mexico State homicides slashed in half under new security strategy

Mexico State has reported a dramatic 50% reduction in homicides, attributing the success to a new ‘unified command’ security strategy. The announcement was made during Wednesday’s mañanera press conference, where officials highlighted improved safety in 15 high-crime municipalities that border Mexico City to the west.

The strategy consolidates police forces under a single command, enabling better coordination and resource allocation. Officials stated that the approach has been pivotal in curbing violence in one of the country’s most populous states.

In a lighter moment, security officials also unveiled ‘Ceci,’ a robot cop designed to assist in law enforcement. The robot’s introduction underscores the state’s investment in technology to complement traditional policing methods.
