Kildare TD Michael McCarthy has warned that the MetroLink rail link project must be kept within budget, describing it as essential but not a “runaway train” in terms of costs.
“MetroLink is vital but cannot be a runaway train when it comes to costs,” McCarthy said, emphasizing the need for careful financial management.
The projected cost of the MetroLink project is estimated to fall between €14.5 billion and €17.5 billion, with a central estimate of €15.75 billion.
MetroLink is a planned rail link that will connect Dublin to the western suburbs and beyond, aiming to improve transport links and support economic growth in the region.
McCarthy’s remarks highlight the importance of maintaining fiscal discipline as the project moves forward.
