Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has announced plans to implement a ban on the wearing of burqas and niqabs within the country’s schools. In addition to the proposed clothing restrictions, the government intends to establish a cap on the number of foreign students permitted in each classroom.
The policy proposals arrive as Prime Minister Meloni seeks to increase her political support in anticipation of Italy’s upcoming national election, which is scheduled for next year.
