On Monday, February 23, 2026, a tragic incident occurred when a medical evacuation aircraft crashed into a forest near Ranchi, Jharkhand, leading to the death of all seven people on board, including a critically injured burn patient, a doctor, a paramedic, and two family members. The plane, a Beechcraft C90 operated by Redbird Airways Pvt. Ltd., was en route to New Delhi with the patient when the accident happened. Local authorities have managed to recover all victims’ bodies and sent them for autopsy. Initial reports suggest that turbulence or unstable weather might be the cause of the crash, however, an official investigation is still underway. This incident, occurring just weeks after a similar accident in western India, has raised serious concerns about aviation safety in the country, given the frequent use of air ambulances to transport critically ill patients from smaller cities to major hospitals in urban centers.
