A 23-year-old mechanic, Justin Baird, has been charged with the murder of 35-year-old labourer Scott Rambaran, whose body was found in the D’Abadie district. Baird appeared in court on July 28, 2025, facing not only the murder charge but also charges for possessing a firearm and ammunition. The case has drawn attention due to the circumstances surrounding Rambaran’s death, which is under investigation by the Homicide Bureau of Investigations. Baird was arrested on July 22, 2025, after a thorough investigation led by a team of law enforcement officers. A sufficiency hearing is set for January 30, 2026, as the legal proceedings continue to unfold.
