Maxi Taxi Driver Arrested for Assaulting Licensing Officer

On Monday, March 9, 2026, around 10:30 a.m., an assault on a Licensing Officer was reported near East Grove Housing Development, St. Joseph Police District. The officers, PC Ali and PC Harding from Las Lomas Police Post, were on mobile patrol at the time. According to the report, the Licensing Officer was assaulted while performing his duties by the driver of a green band maxi taxi, who punched him twice in the face before chasing the Licensing Authority vehicle with a wheel spanner. The suspect then left the scene. Later that day, police went to the Caroni Licensing Office where the suspect was successfully identified and arrested. The 27-year-old suspect, residing at Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas, was taken to the St. Joseph Police Station along with the Licensing Officer. The investigations are still ongoing.
