Mauritius And India Sign Agreement For Mobile Disaster Warning System Setup

Mauritius has approved a Memorandum of Understanding with India to establish a multi‑hazard mobile early warning system. The Cabinet of Ministers gave its approval on 6 November, and the agreement will see the Indian government fully fund the capital expenditure required for the project. The system will use cell‑broadcast technology to send rapid alerts about potential hazards directly to mobile devices. By creating an integrated, multi‑risk alert network, the initiative aims to reduce loss of life, protect property and enhance the country’s overall disaster resilience. Implementation will be overseen by the Centre for Development of Telematics on behalf of the Indian government. The agency will deploy the cell‑broadcast solution, support integration, and launch the emergency service across Mauritius. Source: Defi Media.
