Manchester City confirmed the acquisition of 18‑year‑old Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille on a five‑year contract on Wednesday. Manager Enzo Maresma praised the teenager’s potential but emphasized a measured approach as he adjusts to life in England.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the Premier League match against Crystal Palace, Maresma said Bouaddi, who featured for Morocco at this year’s World Cup, “is ready and he was working with his former club so he is fit. He’s quite calm, he does not look 18.” The manager added that the club intends to “go slowly because he is very young and came from a different country,” but expects Bouaddi to contribute both now and in the future.

Maresma also provided updates on the fitness of other squad members. Midfielder Elliot Anderson, who left the field with cramp during City’s recent home win over Bournemouth, was reported to be “fine.” He noted that Matheus Nunes “is not 100 percent having come off the bench against Bournemouth,” and that winger Jeremy Doku remains unavailable.

The manager confirmed the departure of forward Omar Marmoush, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, and said discussions are ongoing with forward Jack Grealish amid speculation about his potential exit before the transfer window closes.

When asked about further transfer activity, Maresma declined to comment on rumors linking City with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández, stating, “Anything can happen in the window, we will see. In this moment it is quite complicated to think about the window because we have a game in 24 hours.”

The club’s next fixture is against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
