María Corina Machado, opposition leader in Venezuela and recipient of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, held her first press conference on Thursday following her return to the country on Sunday. The conference came shortly after a late‑night message from the acting president, Delcy Rodríguez. Machado arrived in Venezuela on 25 October after spending ten months in clandestinity abroad. Her return followed at least seven unsuccessful attempts to re-enter the country. Upon arrival, she led a convoy of vehicles from the state of Lara—where she made her first public appearance after re‑entry—to Caracas, the capital.
