Maldives and Eritrea Establish Diplomatic Relations at UN Ceremony

The Republic of Maldives and the State of Eritrea have formally established diplomatic relations. The Joint Communiqué formalising ties was signed today at the United Nations by Her Excellency Thilmeeza Hussain, Permanent Representative of Maldives, on behalf of the Maldivian government.

The signing marks a milestone in bilateral engagement between the two nations, opening pathways for cooperation in areas such as trade, maritime security, and international diplomacy.

Ambassador Thilmeeza Hussain represented Maldives in the ceremony, underscoring the government’s commitment to expanding its network of diplomatic partnerships.

The move aligns with Maldives’ broader foreign policy objective of strengthening ties with nations across Africa and beyond.
