Major Penny Hails Tobago Carnival’s Growing Appeal: “Need Two Weeks to Recover!”
Tobago Carnival 2026 may have officially ended, but for popular entertainer and social media personality Major Penny, the memories, energy and excitement are still very much alive.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, November 4, Major Penny expressed his appreciation for the people of Tobago and shared his belief that the island's Carnival has the potential to become one of the greatest celebrations in the Caribbean.
“Let clear the air on this one time … There are MANY reasons I can list supporting why I believe Tobago Carnival will continue to grow into one of the Greatest Carnivals,” he wrote.
He followed that declaration with a heartfelt message to the sister isle.
“For now though, to the majestic side of our twin island republic, I’d simply say ‘Thanks!’ Need 2 weeks to recover 😭😭”
The post attracted 3,753 likes and 221 comments, reflecting considerable engagement with his Carnival experience.
A Carnival Experience Worth Remembering
Major Penny's enthusiasm extended beyond the music and festivities. He described the atmosphere of friends and families enjoying themselves, dancing in the rain and moving from one event to another across Tobago.
For him, the experience highlighted something special about the island's Carnival: the sense of togetherness, freedom and continuous celebration that brings people back for more.
His playful admission that he would need two weeks to recover also captured the intensity of the festivities, where long days, late nights and back-to-back events form part of the Carnival experience.
Tobago Carnival Finding Its Own Identity
First introduced as a standalone celebration in October 2022, Tobago Carnival was designed to establish a distinct Carnival experience outside Trinidad and Tobago's traditional pre-Lenten season.
Five editions later, the event continues to establish its identity, combining music, masquerade, entertainment and Tobago's distinctive hospitality.
The celebration also provides opportunities for hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, transportation providers, event promoters and small businesses that benefit from increased visitor activity.
Major Penny's endorsement adds to the positive attention surrounding the event, particularly as Tobago seeks to strengthen its reputation as a destination for cultural tourism and entertainment.
A Simple Thank You With a Powerful Message
While his Instagram caption was relatively brief, Major Penny's message carried a clear sentiment: Tobago Carnival is an experience he believes has tremendous potential.
Rather than focusing on any single event or performance, he celebrated the overall atmosphere and the people who helped make the festivities memorable.
His message also reflects the importance of the Carnival community, whose participation and enthusiasm remain central to the celebration's identity.
For Major Penny, the verdict on his personal experience appears unmistakable.
Tobago delivered, the memories were worth making, and now comes the recovery.
And if his enthusiasm is anything to go by, two weeks of rest might be a small price to pay for another unforgettable Tobago Carnival.
