Major Anti-Crime Operations Lead to Multiple Arrests, Ammo and Narcotics Seizures

Two major anti-crime operations conducted over the weekend by officers of the Western Division Task Force (WDTF) and the St. Joseph Police Station District resulted in several arrests, along with the seizure of ammunition and illegal drugs.

The Western Division Task Force executed Operation Trident, an exercise sanctioned by Senior Superintendent Williams and led by W/Asp Aguilleira. During a foot patrol along a track off Waterhole Road, Cocorite, officers observed an 18-year-old man discard a black bag after noticing police presence. The bag was retrieved and found to contain 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition. The suspect was arrested and taken to the St. James Police Station.

Later in the morning, at around 11:05 a.m., officers acted on intelligence and searched the home of a 30-year-old Pititlal Hill, Cocorite resident under Regulation 12 of the Emergency Powers Regulation 2025. While no firearm was found, officers seized 26.74 grams of cocaine. The suspect was arrested.

A subsequent search at 11:25 a.m., also conducted under Regulation 12, targeted the residence of a 21-year-old man of Pititlal Hill. During the search, officers discovered 137.68 grams of cannabis. The suspect was taken into custody.

In a separate coordinated overnight operation between 10:30 p.m. on November 30 and 1:30 a.m. on December 1, officers converged on the corner of Rapsey Street and Knowles Street in Curepe. The exercise, led by ACP Singh, Senior Superintendent Gift, and Superintendent Jaggernauth, resulted in the detention of 28 illegal immigrants—22 males and 6 females.

Assistance from the Police K-9 Unit allowed officers to uncover 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition hidden in a blue plastic crate. No arrests were made in relation to the ammunition discovery, and investigations remain ongoing.

Fourteen of the detainees were served detention orders, while the remaining individuals are being held pending directives from Immigration authorities. Female detainees are currently housed at the St. Joseph Police Station.

The operations were supported by several units including the NCDTF East and West, IATF, NOTF, the K-9 Unit, Telecom and Transport Branch, the Immigration Division, the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, and St. Joseph charge room staff.
