Machel Montano, renowned soca artist, is looking towards a future beyond Carnival, with a focus on nurturing young talent and carving a new path for his career. At a private screening of his documentary ‘Like Ah Boss’ in Port of Spain, the 51-year-old singer expressed admiration for the wealth of homegrown talent in Trinidad and Tobago, citing eight-year-old Angelo Gore as one of the country’s promising young talents. Montano criticized the lack of acknowledgment for everyday talents and declared his intention to invest his resources, and those of his allies and friends, to create opportunities for the next generation. Part of his plan includes ‘Soundbridge’, an online program designed to guide talented individuals through educational workshops, tutorials, PR content, and artist interviews. Montano’s documentary opens in cinemas today, and he is scheduled to perform at the Flava Food Village tomorrow as Carnival peaks.
