Soca superstar Machel Montano celebrated his 12th Road March title in 2026, setting a new record and surpassing the 50-year record previously held by calypso legend Lord Kitchener. Montano’s song ‘Encore’ was played 171 times as mas bands crossed the judging points during Carnival Monday and Tuesday. The win was announced by Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation president Ainsley King at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain. In the competition, which featured 18 songs, Montano’s ‘Encore’ secured him the first place.
