Météo : jusqu’à 37 °C dans l’Aude, “des niveaux remarquables mi-septembre”… un nouveau pic de chaleur attendu en début de semaine prochaine

France is expected to experience a heatwave on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September, with temperatures projected to reach 35 °C in the southern regions, about 10 °C above seasonal averages.

According to the French meteorological service, the heatwave will be most intense in the south, where maximum temperatures could climb to 37 °C in the Aude department. In the north, temperatures are expected to remain moderate, ranging from 27 °C to 28 °C.

During the mornings of Monday, minimum temperatures are forecast to stay reasonable, with highs near or above 20 °C close to the Mediterranean. In the afternoon, the southern half of the country is expected to see temperatures between 27 °C and 33 °C, slightly lower in mountainous areas and along Mediterranean coastlines due to sea breezes.

On Tuesday, the heat is predicted to intensify further, with the French weather channel noting that the Aude department could see peaks around 37 °C. The forecast also indicates that temperatures will be 9 °C to 11 °C above seasonal norms.

These predictions come as the Azores anticyclone is expected to move toward France, contributing to the rise in temperatures that began over the weekend. The heatwave is anticipated to be less intense than the one at the beginning of the month.

For residents and visitors in southern France, the forecast advises taking precautions against heat-related risks, including staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged exposure during peak afternoon hours.
