Los Lakers envían a Bronny James a la G League

Los Angeles Lakers sent rookie guard Bronny James to their G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers, on Thursday. The move is intended to give the 19‑year‑old more playing time and continue his development. James, who is in his third professional season, has appeared in only five games for the Lakers this campaign, averaging 2.4 minutes and 0.8 points per contest. The Lakers are currently 7‑2 and sit near the top of the Western Conference standings. In the G League, James has shown stronger production. Over 25 games in the past two seasons with the South Bay Lakers, he averaged 18.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists, shooting 49.6 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from beyond the arc. The affiliate has rebranded this season as the Coachella Valley Lakers and will play its home games at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, moving away from the franchise’s training facilities in El Segundo. The team’s first game of the season is scheduled for Friday against the Salt Lake City Stars. Along with James, the Lakers also assigned rookie Cameron Carr to the affiliate. The Coachella Valley Lakers will be coached by Alex Cerda, who has taken over the role from Zack Guthrie, who has joined the coaching staff of Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick.
