Leonel Fernández llama a tomar medidas preventivas ante la inseguridad en Haití

Former Dominican Republic president Leonel Fernández, who currently heads the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) party, warned on Sunday that insecurity in Haiti is worsening. In a post on the social‑media platform X, Fernández expressed concern over recent events involving the “Fuerza de Supresión de Pandillas” (FSP) deployed in Haiti and the disappearance of four Salvadoran soldiers. “Lo ocurrido con la Fuerza de Supresión de Pandillas y los cuatro militares salvadoreños desaparecidos confirma que la inseguridad en Haití sigue agravándose,” Fernández wrote. He urged Dominican authorities to remain alert and to adopt preventive measures to safeguard national security. The former president emphasized that the situation in the neighboring country demands continuous vigilance, citing the expansion of violence and the activity of armed gangs as key risks. “Debemos mantenernos alerta y tomar medidas preventivas para preservar nuestra seguridad nacional,” he added, stressing the importance of acting proactively in response to Haiti’s deteriorating security conditions.
