Lead Poisoning Incident Affects Over 200 Children in China Kindergarten

In a shocking incident in north-west China, over 200 children were hospitalized due to lead poisoning after consuming food decorated with inedible paint at Peixin Kindergarten in Tianshui City, Gansu Province. Authorities reported that the lead levels in the food samples were alarmingly high, measuring 2,000 times above the national safety standard. The contaminated items included steamed red date cakes and sausage corn buns, which were decorated using the hazardous paint. Following the incident, eight individuals, including school staff, were arrested. Investigations revealed that the principal had instructed kitchen staff to purchase the paint online, despite it being clearly marked as inedible. As the situation unfolded, officers conducted searches to find the hidden supplies used in the food preparation, highlighting a severe breach of safety protocols in the school.
