The French Polynesia Athletics Federation held its annual half-marathon championship on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Motu Ovini in Papeari. Nearly 100 runners participated in the 21-kilometer event, with 85 athletes successfully completing the course.
Cyril Vincent-Viry won the men’s race in a sprint finish, completing the course in 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 9 seconds. He finished two seconds ahead of runner-up Damien Troquenet. Because Vincent-Viry is based in mainland France, Troquenet was awarded the title of champion of French Polynesia. Cédric Wane finished third with a time of 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 51 seconds. Other notable performances included three runners from the Tefana club—Tereva Tapatoa, Tehoarii Tapatoa, and Eddy Pang-Fat—who finished within the top seven.
In the women’s category, Sophie Bouchonnet of Central Sport secured the title with a time of 1 hour, 34 minutes, and 56 seconds. Following her victory, Bouchonnet noted that she was not entirely satisfied with her performance as she prepares for a marathon in New Zealand this November. Margot Du Peuty finished second in 1 hour, 38 minutes, and 56 seconds, followed by Revanui Puravet-Buillard in third place with a time of 1 hour, 41 minutes, and 22 seconds.
