A woman from St. Barbs, Laventille finds herself out of $8,000 TT after a car purchase on Facebook turned fraudulent. The woman reported to police that she had contacted Seenath Investment Ltd, a company advertising cars for sale on Facebook, on August 8th, 2025. She was later approached by a woman named Natasha Roopchand via WhatsApp, who directed her to deposit $8,000 TT into a Republic Bank account for a Toyota Axio. The account was held under the name Mariah Richardson. After transferring the money on August 9th, 2025, the woman has neither received the car nor a refund. The seller has not responded to her attempts to reach out, and Ms. Roopchand has cut off communication. The police are currently investigating the matter.
