Latvian rally driver Mārtiņš Sesks, regarded as the country’s top competitor, has spent three seasons competing in the World Rally Championship (WRC) with a Rally1 car. While his most recent season did not meet his expectations, Sesks has expressed determination to continue racing at the highest level. He noted that if he is offered only a partial program, it would indicate that he has made a mistake in his approach. Sesks concluded the 2026 European Rally Championship season with a victory on the final stage in Portugal. In the WRC, driving for the M‑Sport Ford team, he won the Portuguese round, finishing ahead of the MRF Tyres squad. The MRF team included Estonian driver Patrick Enok.
