Former French Deputy and Secretary of State Brune Poirson Joins the Board of Directors of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has announced the appointment of Brune Poirson, a former member of the French government, to its board of directors. Poirson, a well-known figure from the first term of Emmanuel Macron’s presidency, will bring her expertise in environmental policies to the foundation.

Poirson served as Secretary of State for the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition from June 2017 to July 2020, under the government of Édouard Philippe II. She was also a deputy for the third constituency of Vaucluse and Vice-President of the United Nations Environment Assembly from March 2019 to July 2020.

According to the foundation, Poirson’s experience in environmental policies and her ability to “mobilize private sector actors” were key factors in her appointment. As Secretary of State, she played a crucial role in promoting the anti-waste law for a circular economy and represented France in international climate and biodiversity negotiations. She later served as Director of Sustainable Development and a member of the executive committee at Accor, where she led the company’s social and environmental impact strategy in nearly 110 countries.

Poirson expressed her honor at being appointed to the board, stating on LinkedIn, “It is an honor to continue the course set by Prince Albert II and to join the board of directors of the Prince Albert II Foundation. I will bring my convictions and experience to serve the causes that the foundation tirelessly champions: preserving the ocean, protecting biodiversity, and supporting scientific research.”
