On Saturday morning, police in Stavanger responded to a traffic incident involving a stolen vehicle that had attempted to evade a police checkpoint. Operasjonsleder Olaug Bjørnsen reported that the car tried to escape the police control and the driver lost control of the vehicle. A cyclist was forced to swerve to avoid being struck by the stolen car. The cyclist collided with a streetlight pole and sustained minor injuries. Bjørnsen said the cyclist was treated on the scene by medical personnel. The vehicle had been stolen during the night. The driver, a woman in her twenties, was found to be under the influence of drugs but was conscious and coherent. She was examined by health staff and appeared unharmed. Police decided to arrest her. The police car sustained minor damage, while the stolen vehicle suffered more extensive damage. Both vehicles were towed by a recovery truck, according to the operation leader.
