Kokoomus romahti – Nyt piiripomolta tulee suorat sanat hallitusyhteistyöstä

The National Coalition Party (Kokoomus) has received a strong endorsement from its regional chairpersons for Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, according to a report by Iltalehti. The party’s support in Yle’s latest opinion poll stands at 15.4 percent, the lowest level in more than 30 years, and the trend in public opinion has been steadily declining. Iltalehti reached out to the chairpersons of 13 regional party groups to gauge their confidence in Orpo’s leadership. Five chairpersons responded: those from Helsinki, Satakunta, Häme, Kainuu, and Lapland. All five expressed unequivocal support for the Prime Minister. Helsinki chair Juha Hakola said, “I give Orpo full support. We have discussed the matter, and now we just work hard and move forward.” He added that the coalition’s functioning is not the same as a normal government, noting that it is unacceptable for Kokoomus to be in government while all other parties remain in opposition. Satakunta chair Johanna Siitari emphasized that no chair will be replaced before the next elections. “Trust is strong. It is not directed at one individual but at our entire group,” she told Iltalehti. “We must conduct self‑criticism on all possible aspects, including communication and outputs.” The statements reflect the party’s determination to maintain unity and strengthen its position in the current coalition government, despite the challenges highlighted by the recent polling data.
