Khalifa Sall et Bassirou Diomaye Faye, ce qui se joue en coulisses à Taxawu Sénégal

Internal discussions are reportedly taking place within the Taxawu Senegal political party regarding a potential collaboration with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. According to reports from the newspaper Les Echos, the subject was raised during a meeting of the party’s political bureau held last Saturday.

During the meeting, several party members advocated for setting aside political divisions to support the president’s national development agenda. Proponents of this cooperation noted that Khalifa Sall and President Faye previously worked together within the Yewwi Askan Wi coalition. These members argued that while there are ongoing political differences with Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, there is no personal or political conflict between Khalifa Sall and the president.

The proposal faced opposition from some party leadership, including spokesperson Youssou Mbow, who reportedly expressed reservations about such an alliance.

Regarding his own position, Khalifa Sall indicated that he is not fundamentally opposed to the idea of working with the president. However, he emphasized that he would not initiate contact without an invitation, noting that he has not yet been approached by the head of state. He further stated that any such move would require a consensus within the party to support a partnership with the current administration.

The report characterizes the internal push from party members as an overture toward the president, suggesting that any further developments depend on whether President Faye chooses to engage with the party.
