KFC is rethinking its restaurant model in Romania. Sphera Franchise Group, the operator of KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell brands in the country, has opened Romania’s first KFC restaurant operating exclusively in a delivery and takeaway format. The new unit, located in the La Strada shopping center in Popești-Leordeni near Bucharest, represents an investment of approximately EUR 420,000.
The roughly 100 square meter outlet is designed for efficiency: no dine-in area, just a streamlined space for filling delivery orders and customer pickups. Patrons can order directly at the restaurant, through the Click & Collect service, or via partner delivery platforms. According to company representatives, the format responds to growing demand for faster and more convenient ordering options while maintaining the same menu and product quality as traditional KFC restaurants.
The opening is the fourth KFC launch this year by Sphera Franchise Group, which also opened outlets in Bucharest’s M Park Titan shopping center, Bălți in the Republic of Moldova, and San Donà di Piave in Italy. The new restaurant has created 15 jobs in Popești-Leordeni, ranging from kitchen and cashier positions to management roles.
With this addition, KFC’s network in Romania now totals 112 restaurants. Sphera Franchise Group manages more than 180 restaurants across Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Italy, and has been listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange since 2017.
