Katz warns Iran could attack on Jewish holidays: ‘Our planes are ready’

**Israeli Defense Minister Warns of Possible Iranian Attack Around Jewish Holidays**

*Jerusalem –* At the “Time for Decision: Democracy and Society” conference, Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz, said that heightened economic pressure on Tehran and rising regional tensions could increase the risk of a direct military confrontation between Iran and Israel.

Katz, speaking to an audience of security and policy experts, relayed the latest intelligence assessment indicating a “increased likelihood of potential escalation” in the ongoing conflict with Iran. He suggested that, based on past incidents, Iran might prefer to launch attacks during Jewish holidays, describing the dates as “times they like to attack because they are Jew‑haters.”

“Their pattern in the past shows a preference for striking on Jewish holidays,” Katz said. “If they attack because of Lebanon, because of Samaria, because of Gaza, or simply because they feel like it, our planes are ready to take off.”

The minister emphasized that Israel’s security establishment has prepared for a range of scenarios, stating that the Israeli Defense Forces are ready for both defensive and offensive operations. He added that any such actions would be coordinated with the United States, though specific details of the coordination were not disclosed.

Katz’s remarks come amid broader concerns within Israel’s security community about the possibility of an escalation with Iran. While no immediate threat has been identified, officials have warned that the combination of economic sanctions and regional disputes could prompt Tehran to consider a more overt military approach.

The defense minister concluded by urging vigilance, but also reassured the public that Israel is prepared to respond to any aggression. No further statements have been released by Iranian officials in response to Katz’s comments.
