Kamla Persad-Bissessar has been re-elected as the Political Leader of the United National Congress (UNC) without opposition. According to the party’s election manual, specifically Rule 5.5.2, when there is only one nominee, that individual is declared elected unopposed, effectively bringing the election process to an end.
