JMMB Slashes USD Spending Limit on Visa Debit Card

JMMB Bank has declared a significant reduction to the foreign currency spending allowance on its Visa Classic Debit Card. Starting February 1, 2026, the maximum spend in United States dollars on the card will be capped at US$100 per billing cycle. This limit encompasses all transactions conducted outside of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as international online purchases, irrespective of the merchant or platform used. However, local transactions in Trinidad and Tobago conducted in TTD will not be impacted, allowing customers to continue using their cards for domestic purchases. This change represents a considerable decrease in overseas spending potential for Visa Classic Debit Card holders, particularly affecting those who depend on the card for subscriptions, e-commerce, travel-related payments, and other foreign currency expenses. For more information, JMMB encourages customers to visit its official fees and FAQs page or reach out to customer service directly. This adjustment is part of a series of changes in the local banking sector regarding foreign currency usage and accessibility.
