Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir – Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday on Thursday, September 17, 2026, by visiting children’s institutions in the state and announcing a month‑long series of celebratory programmes across India.
At the Children’s Hospital in Bemina, Sinha met with hospitalized children and distributed gifts to mark the occasion. He then visited the Palaash and Pareesh Child Care Home, where he launched the “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan,” a 12‑service programme that will run from September 17 to October 17 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the day, Sinha said, “Today is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. It has been nearly 25 years since he first assumed leadership responsibilities in public office. To mark the occasion, the Government of India has planned a month‑long series of programmes, with various events being organised throughout the month.”
He added that interacting with children in Jammu and Kashmir was a highlight of the celebrations, urging residents to participate actively in the programmes and celebrate with joy and enthusiasm.
In Kolkata, West Bengal, BJP President Samik Bhattacharya visited the Dakshineswar Kali Temple to offer prayers on the Prime Minister’s birthday. Bhattacharya noted that Modi had visited the shrine at the start of his public life and said the temple committee would conduct a special aarti in his honour.
The events in Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal are part of a nationwide series of programmes organised by the BJP and government bodies to commemorate Prime Minister Modi’s 76th birthday.
