Peruvian Electoral Authorities Receive 717 Withdrawal Requests from Regional and Municipal Candidates
The Special Electoral Juries (JEE) in Peru have received a total of 717 requests for withdrawal from candidates participating in the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections. The deadline for submitting these requests was August 5, according to the electoral calendar.
The JEE reported that they received the withdrawal requests from candidates who have decided to renounce their participation in the upcoming elections. The exact reasons for the withdrawals have not been specified. The JEE will now proceed to process the requests and update the list of candidates for the elections.
