Dr. Mohsen Rezaee, a representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader to the Supreme National Security Council, issued a warning to the United States on Saturday, stating that any military escalation would be met with a “devastating response.” In a statement, Rezaee criticized the current state of U.S. leadership and foreign policy, questioning the efficacy of the current administration. “Start a war, and you’ll face a devastating response,” Rezaee wrote. The remarks followed an announcement earlier Saturday by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) regarding the establishment of a new task force. According to the command, the initiative is designed to support U.S. government efforts to disrupt Iran’s ability to transport advanced weaponry and other materials via ground routes. The task force is mandated to coordinate with various U.S. agencies to prevent the movement of advanced weapons systems, dual-use technologies, and sanctioned materials. Additionally, the team will focus on curbing illegal revenue streams across Iran’s land borders and the Caspian Sea.
