In the wake of U.S. military build-up off the Venezuelan coast, Iran has stepped in to support Venezuela. The U.S. military deployment includes warships, fighter jets, and 4,000 troops. Responding to this, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has expressed full solidarity with Caracas. He criticized the U.S. action as a ‘blatant violation of the UN Charter’ and an act of ‘bullying.’ Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil has echoed Araghchi’s sentiments, vowing to uphold Venezuela’s sovereignty. He has also called on BRICS and Latin American nations to condemn the U.S. aggression. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has warned of potential ‘armed struggle’ and the bounty for his arrest has been increased to $50 million. Amid these escalating tensions, a Venezuelan motor boat was sunk.
