Major Winter Storm Disrupts Travel Across the U.S., Expected to Explode Into Bomb Cyclone
A powerful winter system is causing major disruption across the United States, bringing severe weather, dangerous roads, and significant travel delays. Forecasters warn the storm will intensify rapidly into a bomb cyclone as it moves along the East Coast today.
Air travel saw major setbacks on Monday, with Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport experiencing the highest number of issues. More than 1,500 flights were delayed, and over 300 were canceled nationwide.
Road travel is also becoming hazardous in several states. Missouri authorities reported multiple crashes due to heavy snow and slippery conditions. Meanwhile, parts of North Carolina, West Virginia, and Virginia could see up to a quarter-inch of ice later today, raising concerns about power outages and treacherous commutes.
