The Instituto Tecnológico de Innovación y Emprendimiento República Dominicana (ITIERD) launched the Creating Youth Prosperity Initiative (CYPI) in the municipality of Cabral, province of Barahona. The event took place at the Centro Educativo en Artes Carmen Marte de Nin in the town of Nin. CYPI is a regional program of The Trust for the Americas, supported by the Citi Foundation. In the Dominican Republic it is implemented by ITIERD. According to engineer Allen Féliz, director of the project in the country, CYPI will benefit 200 young people. The initiative aims to strengthen participants’ digital, professional, financial, leadership and entrepreneurial skills, providing them with tools to prepare for the labor market, develop business ideas and take advantage of opportunities created by digital transformation. Féliz said, “The project represents a great opportunity to strengthen the talent of young people in Cabral, promote entrepreneurship and contribute to the social and economic development of the municipality. The union between institutions, educational centers, businesses and the community is key to forming a better-prepared youth for today’s challenges.” The launch was supported by several educational institutions, community organizations and local businesses. Partners included the Fundación Alas para Ángeles, the Asociación Dominicana de Profesores (ADP) seccional Cabral, Liceo Francisco Amadís Peña, the Centro Educativo en Artes Carmen Marte de Nin, the Asociación de Estudiantes Universitarios Cabraleños (ASODEUCA) and the Confraternidad de Jóvenes Cristianos de Cabral. Local enterprises such as Repuestos Olivero, Valery Dental Clinic and Repuesto Bici-Moto Yeo also participated, underscoring the importance of collaboration across sectors to create growth opportunities for the next generation. The initiative is part of Cabral’s broader effort to promote education, innovation, entrepreneurship and community engagement among its youth.
